Leaving from the blow hole we made it to the trail head not having much service! Thankfully, from my screen shot of the map I planned in the morning and satellite tracking us, it was quite easy to find. The first 5 minutes were the hardest part, hiking up the steep cement! It was a good calf stretcher that’s for sure!
As we headed to the trail head there was an older fit group probably mid 50’s wet and covered in mud. They recommended us to grab a stick and don’t go to the top, its not worth it! Me, if I start a hike I want to see the top even if there is nothing to see! Especially if someone tells me I shouldn’t, that makes me even want to do it more! Bring on the mud!
We chose our stick out of the pile and began our journey! The beginning had a mild incline with a lot of roots and mud.
We passed another couple covered in mud. This got me even more excited! To me, if you cant fight the mud just embrace it, love it, and laugh when your significant other is slipping and sliding! We must have just missed the rain since everyone else was coming down wet!
About 1.5 miles in the views were incredible! The sun was trying to peak through the sky lighting up the two cities on both ends! Such a beautiful panoramic view!
The clouds were creeping in! Can you spot me along the ridge?!
From here on up were heading straight into the clouds!
All you could see is us and the lines of the trees! It made it feel so erie but beautiful!
This is where it got really muddy after the 1.5 mile mark.
Made it to top! Sure enough we were in the clouds which was okay and still well worth the hike!
Now the fun part making it down! If it wasn’t for our stick we would have fell so much more. Some parts felt like we were skiing down the mud. I couldn’t stop laughing especially when Ron fell! Sorry babe, I am not sure why I get joy out of you falling!
By the time we made it half way down it cleared up much more to see the views of the vallys ridges! I’ve always had a dream of seeing views like this!
Made it to the bottom! We literally had chunks of clay mud stuck up our legs.
It took us 2 hours 46 min hiking top to bottom! We started at 9am.
